Health and the environment

Environmental damage leads to diseases, while climate change worsens food and humanitarian crises. Human actions drive epidemics and antibiotic resistance, and healthcare systems add to environmental strain. The GHF brings together experts to develop sustainable solutions that protect public health amid these challenges.

The GHF is developing two workstreams over the next three years:

  • The “Improving Indoor Air Quality” project aims to submit a resolution to the World Health Assembly in 2028, requesting that the WHO develop a global strategy for improving indoor air quality.
  • The “Water, Heart of Health” festival will be held over the next three years to coincide with World Lakes Day (August 27). Its objective is to raise awareness among the people of Geneva about the essential role that the water ecosystem plays in human health.

Health Equity

While universal healthcare remains a top priority for the World Health Organization (WHO), rising health disparities highlight the need for innovative approaches beyond market-driven solutions. The Geneva Health Forum addresses these disparities by convening thought leaders, medical practitioners, and field actors dedicated to developing and implementing innovative and sustainable solutions to the barriers hindering access to health for all.

The GHF is developing a specific area of work on the theme of “Health and Migration”.
